Development and technical implementation

This work package is targeted to implement didactic and game design specifications developed in WP 3 and to integrate technological developments of WPs 2b, 2c, and 2d. The primary outcome of this work package is the three demonstrator scenarios. The main scenario will be developed in all three development phases of the project.

Game development starts from the specification of the technological approaches to the scenarios envisioned in 80Days and the specification of game design and learning design requirements. Subsequently, the main architecture of the project will be designed and the base software modules will be developed. Once the software instruments are mature enough, the gameplay is developed and the demonstrators are released. In parallel with the development of the demonstrator, the general methodology to build next-generation DEGs is created and the instruments to edit the base version of the product are released.

Together with contents coming from external sources (websites, geographical data, etc.), different types of assets will be developed. This includes 3D graphics, 2D graphics, sound effects, spoken dialogues, background music, texts, which are the main resources that form the 80Days demonstrators. The production of these assets will start from game design and learning design and will be integrated into the game engine during the implementation of each phase’s demonstrator.
