Michael Kickmeier-Rust (University of Graz) presented a critical contemplation of challenges in the development and evaluation of educational computer games at the 4th Usability and Human-Computer Interaction Symposium of the Austrian Computer Society at the Technical University Graz. Michael emphasized the importance and pitfalls of a scientifically sound design and application of usability engineering methods in educational and serious games. He tried to raise awareness that in the context of usability engineering, computer games are a substantially different genre then regular software applications.
